Cross country trip in Spring of 2011

Looks like the trip from Boise, Idaho to Ottawa, Canada only whetted our appetite for more. We're planning on shipping the Speedster out to the San Francisco area, flying out commercial then bringing it back home taking in parts of Cali, Vegas, New Mexico then down to Texas and on up Route 66 then points East. Does anyone know of some facility I could ship the Speedster to and hold it for a week about the middle of April near San Francisco ? Thanks...Dave Stroud

you can ship it here to placerville, id hold it till u arrived. we have hertz and 1 of the other outfits to return ur rental car. we are a bout a 2 hr drive from the "city", heading east towards lake tahoe. bob

Wow, I'm impressed! I've hesitated taking my car cross country from Yellowknife to Ontario but you've given my inspiration.

If you pass through Detroit on your way back to Canada, give me a shout.

Plan trip for early spring and you can head up the caravan to Carlisle --- prize to one covering the most distance in their Speedster --- give Jack Crosby some competition!

Thanks Bob for that generous offer. We could fly into Sacramento and make it even closer. Will keep you posted re: our planning over the coming months. Brian up in YK...bring it on man. We'll treat you right over here. I know Bob Cameron in YK with the Transportation museum. He knows Fairchild airplanes. Tom near Detroit..thanks but we'll be too far South. The big swing will get us up to Charleston, WV then over to Harrisburg, Pa ( near Carlisle ) but likely too soon for the Show which might be around May 20th ? If that is the show you refer to Wolf, I might get back down to it...it's only 440 miles away. Mine's just a daily driver and I'm not accustomed to trophys and such anyway.

David, when you firm up the timeline, it would be pretty easy for some of us here in Baltimore to run out to WVa and make some of that drive along with you.
Sounds like the perfect reason to take a little vacation time!

Yeah, let us all know what your route is gonna be as you firm it up. I'm sure that a whole bunch of people would be looking to meet with you once they know you'll be "just passin' through", along with offers to stay over at their places.
