I was wondering what the consensus was on the Crow 2" wide or 3" wide lap belt options. I like the look of the 3" lap belt, but proportionally they look like they could look rather large compared to the speedster seat. The 2" belt is on par with the factory belt width but leaves a rather large buckle that may pinch in places.

Or am I just overthinking things again? What do you guys have?

I've got 5 points in mine, camlock style.

But I have a Vintage Spyder which has the frame cross bar at the top rear of the cockpit, so a secure place for shoulder belts.

If you actually DRIVE the car, the 5 points really hold you in, making it easier to hoon.

Finally, I have a major aversion to smashing my body into the dash in the event of another crash.

You do you, I'm just offering options here.

Danny's right.  I changed out my first Speedster's 3-point belts for lap belts because the mount for the shoulder belt was too low for me and was uncomfortable after a while.  Some years later I was in an accident and wound up bending the steering wheel with my face - to the benefit of neither.  When I spec'd the Coupe I had Carey put in 4-point harnesses.  They restrict movement a bit, but you're a lot safer.  The caveat is, as Danny implied, that you must have a high enough point to mount the shoulder straps - in both our cases a roll bar crossbar.

The fifth strap (crotch or anti-submarine) is probably only needed for serious track driving or socially irresponsible hoonery (none of us would ever do that - would we?).
