Darren -

Bummer that you won't be able to join us. If your station (#5) was only a little bit closer we would be able to cruise by and take some pics with some fire rigs before heading out to Chino.

We'll set up another cruise in May and I'll give you more lead time so you can have a better chance to join us. Maybe your kelley schedule will work out with our cruise dates.

Peace - Out!
Fantasy of Flight is really a great place. A friend of mine's father is 91 Years old and flew in B-25s in China in WW2. He lives in Melbourne Fl and my friend and I went with him to the Fantasy of Flight. When we got there the B-25 was in the service hangar getting worked on. When we asked where it was the employee started talking with us and said since Pete, my friend's dad, was a former flight crew member we could all go out to the hangar and go aboard the plane. We did and it was great. Pete could not gfet in because of the access door is a little too much for a 90 plus vet but he climbed around under ans looked in to the crew area and the bomb bay. He was amazing telling about what it was like to fly that aircraft. After thje war he came back to the US and never flew in an aircraft again. He was affected so severly by his experience. But he worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 35 years as an engineer at the Government Products Division in Florida with my dad. There is a Short flying boat there that is very large. We got a picture of Pete and his wife inside like they were on a Pan Am Clipper flight during the 30's. All in all a very memorable day. Great folks at Fantasy of flight. I hoope yo make a run to Planes of Fane this fall maybe.
Great story, Will!

From a history viewpoint I am fascinated by the stories told by WWII vets (I'm sure there is some embellishment, but what the hell, I give 'em their due). The evolution of technology in a 90-year old's lifetime is phenomenal - model-T Ford's to landing a rover on Mars as well as the communications aspect (computers, WiFi, ect.). The evolution of technology in military applications in the past 75 years is also mind-boggling.

If you're ever in SoCal give a shout out and I'll scare up a few of the SOCers for a meet & greet!

Later!
