I posted this this morning, but somehow it ended up in the Spyder section, so I'm reposting it in the Speedster section.

I wasn't able to post to the last message about CruZin windows, but have posted a link to it below this update.

Over the past several months, I have been working on a redesign of the pin mounts that would allow infinite adjustment of the spacing between the mounts.   This would allow my CruZin windows to be used on any Speedster, not just Vintage and JPS.

Additionally, I believe the new design will allow a larger window for those of you who have been requesting a "full size" window to replace your side curtains.

I'm currently testing the prototype, but wanted to let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about it.

I hope to have them available by October and will update this posting as soon as they are available.

FYI.  Mitch's pictures show a set of my 1st generation CruZin Windows installed on a Vintage Speedsters built Speedster. My current generation are the exact same size, but the polished aluminum base is very different. I just want to point out that there is a difference and how you decide to install them can make a slight difference in how they fill the space.

If you notice, Mitch has his windows installed so they extend slightly past the rear of the door and are not behind the windshield frame at the front. Mitch's early version may not have allowed him to install them any other way.

I prefer to install them so they are even with the rear of the door and slightly tucked in behind the windshield frame.  This requires that they are tilted slightly inward to avoid colliding with the windshield when the door is opened and closed.  This is accomplished by bending the aluminum mounting pins slightly.  It takes a little bit longer to install them, but is not difficult to do.  The pictures on my website www.cruzinwindows.com show them installed this way.

Thanks Troy.

Just curious, did you ever think of producing a window that was higher towards the back so it follows the top's curve lines?

Yes, it's been requested many MANY times.  The problem is that I can't make a "one size fits all" version because there are differences between the different car manufacturers.

However, I do offer a hardware only purchase option that allows the buyer to purchase and cut their own plexiglass to what ever shape and dimension they like.  Here's a link to them on eBay

Very nice.  I'll definitely consider this option when I get my speedster.  Thanks Troy

.

Was hoping Troy would jump in with some updated info.

Yes, my car is a 2013 ('Kirk-era') VS. I added the CruZin windows shortly thereafter to replace the stock side curtains. They won't keep you dry in the rain, but civilized people don't do rain in this car.

For me, the two big advantages are that they're A LOT easier to see out of (plex vs. vinyl and no thick canvas frames) and provide very necessary ventilation if you do get caught in some rain or even in garden variety damp, cold weather.

Don't overlook this ventilation thing. If you try to make windows that completely fill the window space, think about adding some aircraft-style vents through the plex (I think @Lane Anderson did that on windows that he made for himself).

But even with the open gaps of Troy's windows, in dry weather enough heat stays in to make the car comfortable down to 30 degrees or colder.**

Here's the view out :
