csw speedsters

I am researching different manufactures of mid-engine, water cooled speedsters. I just got back from Tenn. and a visit to SAS. Now I would like any feedback on this Canadian Manufacture?

Do a search on this forum, as that question comes up periodically. As far as anyone can tell, they haven't produced a single car, and all of the pictures are either real Speedsters, or replicas from other manufacturers. That seems pretty shady to me.

SAS has generated some heated debates here, and I don't want to start another one. I do know that everyone who owns (or, as in Steven O'brien's case, did own) one of their cars has loved it. Henry Reissner produces wonderful water-cooled cars for those that can afford them. And now the folks at Special Editions are producing water-cooled Becks, so you have several options.

If you REALLY want mid-engine, you have one choice, SAS. Unless you want a Spyder, the you have 4 choices!

Did Steve O sell his car? Where have I been?

Mickey: Sadly Steve O's car was totaled in a rear end collision. A driver wasn't aware Steve slowing to turn and slammed into him. Steve was the biggest contributor of ideas and tips to other SAS owners. He is ok, but was shaken up pretty badly.

WOW! That sucks! I'm glad to hear he's OK. Is he getting another SAS? I sure hope the insurance company came through for him.

In answer to your questions: no, and not really.

He was knocked unconscious, which is a big problem for a pilot. After being unable to work for several months, his next car is a while off. The settlement didn't pay enough to replace the car and cover the other expenses.

Yeah, that is something I worry about as well. When I turn I always look in the mirror and if it doesn't look like it's going to be safe I blow the turn and continue and turn somewhere else. You need to drive this like a motorcycle.
