I'll have to look, but I think the shifter is too close to the seats to fit, and if it was in front of it, the E-brake handle may cause a problem...but maybe I'll look at a wal-mart or pepboys to see if something like that will fit.

From my boat days, they used to have those swivel kind of can holders, but I can't get myself to screw one to the dash.

I'll keep looking around and see if something will fit, no matter how cheesey it looks, as long as it is removeable.
Thanks Michael and Gordon. Gordon are you still auctioning the jacket, it seems you include the ebay website address on all of the posts. Michael...I am planning to make a special fabricated Speedster cup/ can holder...based on the number of Speedsters sold every year and a profit of $5.00 on each one, I'll make hundreds a year...wow!
Robert,

Henry put a really cool cup holder in my car. It is mounted to the tunnel side on the passenger side and when closed is hardly visible. When swung out it works like a charm. I am pretty sure it will be more than $10.99. I have to run right now, will email a picture tomorrow.

At a minimum I am sure he knows where to get them.
How about a high tech solution - like Nascar? Those guys often run a flexible line to a thermos located somewhere else in the vehicle. I'm thinking a hands free device for the driver, like those new cell phone head clamps for the driver. At the other end, we could mount the thermos in a special insulated housing to grab some heat from the exhaust pipe. Might as well be sure your coffee is kept warm.

That takes care of "fluid in". Now for "fluid out" . . . . . . . .
I am surprised that you fellows haven't used my version of a cup holder. I usually is mounted on the passenger side. It holds any size cup and most like two cups. I have to admit that it is expensive and noisey but dependable. I didn't have to order it or anything. Just put up with it. A picture of it is below.

Bob:

West Marine has a cup holder that attaches to the door and flips down/out to hold your cup. $10.99 Comes in black or white, fits just about any size cup (it's adjustable) and looks good when either open or stowed.

I have mine mounted at the forward bottom of the door panel, such that it's just above the sill when opened. But then, I gave up coffee when I retired, too!

Wow..all these ideas are great.
Bill..I'll ask Henry about that cupholder, but it looks like it requires putting a hole in the floor tunnel....
For those non IM owners, Bill has many original looking things on his car...and they actually look correct and old....but most IM's have a different and newer but really cool EMPI shifter (it does not look original at all) and a simple lever for the heater (just in case someone was wondering).
Thanks for all of the suggestions... now I think we need one more post to get it to 25 responses.
Robert, the EMPI shifter does work great. Henry has his Knott's show car at my place right now (he is flying into SFO on Wednesday for Dale Bate's BBQ and then the caravan down to Knott's on Thursday). This car has the EMPI shifter. I pulled it out of the garage today to have it washed and I have to say, I really like that shifter.

It has a very short throw, the reverse lockout works extremely well. The only negative is it does not look original. If I were doing it over, I think I would look very hard at the EMPI shifter, a true functional upgrade.
