$169,000 weird, I like it but the gauges.
Two words: butt ugly.
Two words: butt ugly.
I'd counter that "butt ugly" is a description of this car that does a disservice to backsides everywhere.
Definitely something off in the proportions and lines of that car to my eye. There's an odd peak in the side profile at the windshield that doesn't look right, I feel that body line should continue on and peak above the front wheel arch instead, the front end slopes down too quickly from the windshield too so it looks like the car has broken in half, the headlights seem like they need to be more upright or just mounted on higher fenders so the nose would be a little taller to balance the tall back end, and overall the car just looks about 12-18" shorter than it really wants to be.
I hate everything abut this car, minus the engine compartment. There is very little you can do to a 356 to improve the body lines and this person missed.
David,
The car is uglier.

But the engine looks nice.
Looking at the asking price, I feel a little better now about spending so much for my IM6 build.
On my first look I thought; "Well THAT doesn't look so bad!"
Then, I saw that hideous rear grill(?) and the fact that the only gauge I ever really use, the tach, is waaaaaaay over to the right, making it useless, along with the rest of this car.
And to think someone spent a lot of time making it look hideous - what a waste.
I agree Gordon. Subtlety is NOT it's strong suit. Over the top ends up being WAY less in this case.
yes, something off at the rear. and the gauge layout is bizarre to say the least. but let's be clear here, this is not what we have come to know as a Speedster, althoughnthe tern speedster is, after all, a generic term, like "coupe" or "roadster". so this is a one-off speedster (note lower case) based on Porsche running gear, and I assume a real 356 frame, 911 power, etc. very creative. has nice 3/4 front profile. i bet it looks better in person. i would not buy it at half the price.
Bottom line---someone has ruined this car. Hard to say what it would sell for even if you could fine a buyer for a non-original messed-up something that used to be a Porsche Speedster, which it is not any longer
Pity.
IMHO...Car looks like a mismatched 3 piece suit...
The rear/quarter, door and nose sections appear to be cobbled together and nothing flows correctly nor is it pleasing to the eye.
Someone had the courage to take a classic design and create a new vision based upon, their interpretation of beauty.
Well I am sorry, all this talk here, about a big tent with room for all. I guess our tent is not big enough.
Have you ever been to the Louvre in Paris? It's not all to my taste, but there sure is a lot of "design talent" there.
Art
TWINS!
Sorry Art, what was that you were saying?...
(Love you buddy! Just kiddin...)
I dunno guys; I kind of like it (except for the back)...
Somebody needs to explain the exhaust to me.
I've always thought a through the body set of pipes (ala WW2 fighter plane) would be pretty cool. The fact that these come out on odd angles makes it look like "Goofy" from an old Disney cartoon from the '40s.
I'm all for personal expression, but believing somebody has the right to do something doesn't mean I'm obliged to like it.
When dreams go bad......
Yes, you are correct Ron.
It's not my style, nor my price range, but it sure took some cajo***s to chop up a 356.
Maybe the body was too far gone to save otherwise. I like the concept, but the execution has some serious flaws.
Not ugly, but DAWG UGLY
Stan, A classic case of... " I have this on the shelf old exhaust I'll use it to save $50 no matter how bad it looks "~,
