The guy restoring my speedster is an avid VW nut.

As a gift I want to have made a VW emblem with his first name + wagen (something he mentioned he was looking for).

In the Philippines impossible to find this kind of fabricator - but must be someplace online I could order it in metal. 3D printing is also an option, but would much rather find stainless / chrome.

Anyone have any idea who could handle a small project like this?

Thanks.vw

I see custom ones posted here every once and awhile - apparently cut on a CNC milling machine.  You're talking a "one off" though - not a few dozen.  I'd do the 3D printing then press that into a sand mold, remove the 3D image and fill the sand with molten aluminum or brass.  Stainless would be much more costly - I guess a laser could cut it but it is hard to cut/shape by hand since it is so hard.

If it's for a desk ornament cut it out of "Phillipino" Mahogany with a bandsaw.  It would look sharp as a name tag on his workbench.  Doable in a weekend. When my son was pledging a Fraternity in college - here's a paddle I made for him to present to his big brother a photography nut. Took a couple hours.

Gulp that one with custom name from Lebanon is $146 plus shipping! So a costly tribute.

Yeah, I contacted him - he said he could do it, just needed the size. Said the font would be no problem. I requested a price and never heard back. So communication seems to be an issue.

You're right - I did look and saw prices were around $150 (plus shipping)... That's a bit rich for my blood.
