I'm thinking of having a custom gas tank made for my car.

I thought it would be a good idea to get experts/hacks opinions.

What are some features you would like to see if you were designing it.

A few I thought about....

Move the filler cap toward the front of the car.
Integral mounting holes in the flange, no more clips.

Thanks,

Jerome

Jerome- I would buy one too for my Carrera Speedster (better price for 2?) if its larger capacity- my 2370 Raby engine burns the 8-9 gallons up quick . I want a thru the hood Spyder type race filler cap. Vntage did one of these recently by cutting the hood slightly larger and I guess the with the cap off the hood slides overthe filler neck. Downside is it allows rain water into the trunk. They removed trunk carpet and cut a drain hole by battery (where I have 40 lns of stone for weight anyway- so I can live with that). email for pics ofthe vintage- maybe Parts Obsolete is a good placce to check and Vinatage too. Let me know

Talk to a shop that builds S/S and aluminum tanks for yachts or a shop that builds tanks for aircraft (the aircraft guy will be more expensive). They can do almost anything you want if you give them a set of plan drawings. For instance, a guy at my marina does beautiful custom aluminum and S/S work for boats (water, fuel, holding tanks).
"what I need from you all are some suggestions on features you would like"

Lightweight, fits in stock location, no need for cutting of front deck lid in any way, shape, or form, good venting, a min. of 12 Gals, but prefer 16 gals, must have sending unit comapatible with VDO guages used in JPS/VS cars, cut off valve at fuel line hook-up. For those seeking a GT Carrera look have an optional long neck set up with the GT Cap option.... but the base tank should be a stocker filler set so as to not require any mods to the deck lid.

You asked! Build this and we will come in droves, as long as the price is right, haha.
