Dam!! That chassis needs a V8 to move it with all that "real nice" square tube........
Kevin, I know it's impossible to give an accurate estimate for something like this without building both and weighing them, but about how much less would you expect a comparable mild steel DOM tube frame to weigh? About how much would using 4130 chromoly instead of the mild steel save? TIA.
Your right it is impossible to know for sure what it would weigh. But looking at how many welds, and extra tubes are used to make this chassis as strong as a "round" tube frame I would have to guess at least 300 lbs and very possibly more just in 1018 dom mild. The other beniffit is the strenth. Round tube is a lot stronger, and you would not have as many welded joints (weak points) like the square tube.
