I'm looking to make some custom mufflers for my EJ25. I need to direct the exhaust forward and then swing back to my custom exhaust pipes. Need to fit it between the engine and axles. Its not in a speedster but I know you guys know a lot of stuff. Even if I have to make them myself, that's fine. Just could use some leads/ ideas. Thanks!
Jeff
I paid for the first exhaust on my speedster, and didn't care for it. I've built about a half-dozen since. I buy mandrel bends, mufflers, any flanges or collectors, and one piece of pipe from Summit Racing. The bends come in various radiuses - on a speedster, the space is limited, so it's generally the tighter the bend the better, but not always.
When you start building, you're going to need to make and then remake a few bends. I just tack-weld them together with a mig welder. Once I'm 100% sure, I finish weld them.
This procedure means that using stainless pipes or even aluminized tubing is out. It's raw steel for me.
This is why the real exhaust builders like A1 have my undying respect.
