What is the "SOC"?What your point?Do you want to buy it?The car is here for sale.Your cheeky comment about the grills...: even God can't make everyone happy... for-an-instance... in one County there is a farmer praying for rain and in the same County there is a Golfer praying for sun (emphasis added)!  All that matters is what I like, hopefully the buyer likes what I like too, or if not simply put "next" in line please.

Titled as a 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster Convertible.
The build started fall 1985 as a kit car with a Hi-Po VW motor/trans axel (too weak for me).Over the next 30 years the car evolved to a Scat engine w Super-flow heads then to my first JDM turbo 2 liter and now on to the bullet-proof dependable/powerful 2.5 STI engine w/twin turbo heads.  At one time I considered a 3.8 liter Pauter engine for $15K but decided against another air/oil cooled engine.

The 'SOC' is this here site which you've chosen to post your car for sale. Troy is a long time paying member and pretty well respected. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to get under your skin.

A guy who builds a car like that should be open to a wide range of comments.

Best of luck with the sale.

Lighten up, H.Colberg, and you'll have a better chance of selling your car.  I have one other suggestion: your ad contains information that is contradictory.  If your car started out as a CMC, and not an original 1956 Porsche, then it can't legally be licensed as a '56 Porsche in California.  You may want to check your title.  I hope, for your sake, that it's actually listed as a '56 Porsche REPLICA or '56 Porsche Special Construction.  In that way, you can take advantage of Specialty Construction registration, and your car will never need to be smogged if it remains in California.   There's no advantage of Porsche registration.  California DMV would consider such registration as title fraud.  No one's trying to bust your chops, we're just calling it like we see it.

H. Colberg- Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, and here we all quite often voice them. Not every one is going to like everything you do,and you have done something outside the norm, so don't be gettin' all butt-hurt if an SOC (have you figured it out yet?) member doesn't like a certain aspect of your car. And for the record, I agree with Troy; the front end treatment isn't my cup of tea either. That's the beauty of these things- you can do 'em up any way you want.

I'll bet it goes and handles like stink, though. Looks like a neat build. Touche′... Al

PS- Do you know  what it weighs? Tire and rim sizes?

I like many things about this car but MY OPINON is the kidney grills look ugly on this car. I have a couple BMWs and appreciate them on other cars. I also dislike the red color. However this is MY OPINON.  I am sure whoever buys this car will do it because they like the paint and grills as well.  Good luck to the seller and to whoever is lucky enough to buy it!

My mistake, I though the cite definition of  the words "Classifieds (For Sale/Wanted)" is meant just for that...not for comments/suggestions.

I'm just looking for prospective buyers, ...., no disrespect intended to the forum/356 kitcar club.

My time is limited and valuable.  I am involved in other interests, hence my curt responses (no time for back-n-forth).

To ALB:         1900lbs,   17"Z235 rear/16"Z115front/Antera wheels (Italy)/Aerospace Technology brakes/Dot4/Avo coil over shocks/ line lock for 2 gear burn outs/Formula1 quick ratio power steering/ much more.

Mechanically, this car looks stunning.  Likely has power-to-weight that would light up anybody here, and truly scare most of us.   Methinks Mr. Colbert needs to slow down just a tick, and understand what/who he is dealing with here.  He goes and hangs his wares on our hook, he's going to get comments that he may or may not like.  So what?  He's not going to get anything here other than private opinions and some really down-to-earth comments/advice.  And the stupid-looking front grills notwithstanding, we would welcome either the current or future owner of this beast with welcome arms, 'cause that's who we are. And obviously, the grills accommodate the water cooling system, so you gotta do what you gotta do.

I'd like to see Theron change the classified  into a non-posting  section.  Too often I've seen people's ads turn into serious thread drifts and I'm as guilty as the next guy on this site.

It's all fun for us non-buyers but it surely must be a piss-off for those who are trying to sell their cars.

I agree.  This isn't the first time I posted my opinions about an SOC members car.  I'll try to be more careful,  but a non-posting section would solve the problem.

I don't even know if it's that Troy.  Anyone one of us could post a car for sale...and I have twice as you have a few times...those that know the site are cool with just about anything and would welcome the comments.  But when you come on out of the blue, throw it up for sale and expect just to sell it without knowing anyone on the site, especially with all these personalities...that's where it gets a little messy.  Would just be easier though if it were a classified that you only respond to an email or private message...like a craigslist.

A seller can always offer his car on Craigslist, eBay, or wherever. Those sites have their own rules and expectations for both buyer and seller.

This isn't Craigslist. It's an enthusiast discussion site with its own vibe.

Before you post anything on any site, it's a good idea to get a feel for what the site's about, what sort of posts are welcome there, and how a post is likely to be received.

I don't think this seller has been treated unfairly or subjected to abuse, but has experienced the spirited feedback that usually lives here. That feedback often contains some good-natured ribbing, but also some honest criticism that should give a seller a better idea of his prospects in the marketplace.

You won't find out on Craigslist why you're not getting the offers you were expecting or how to better market your car.

Neither a seller nor a buyer be I, but I would not hesitate to list/buy a car here, should that change.  The deal is: get the straight skinny, and get it here. A knowledgeable consumer is our best customer,  I heard once.  If you have something to hide, and can't stand the heat, then do not come into the kitchen.  All of that cleared up, Colbert here sounds like he has lot of irons in the fire, and doesn't have time for our kind of patter.  So be it . . . Listing this beautiful car is not going to be a problem for him, I think.  No telling where the right buyer is hanging out.  And as to that buyer, if he wants some unadulterated input about what's what w/ replica Speedsters, well, as I said, this is the place.

I think Colberg and his build have a lot to teach about what it takes to get really big Suby power to work in a Speedster. Seems you can have a stock-looking car or one that doesn't overheat with 350 hp. Pick one.

It would be interesting to go for a drive and see how it actually behaves....

I think the comments are a good thing, and there are many sites that allow comments in the classifieds.  914world and the auctions on Bring A Trailer are a couple I can think of right off the bat.  As someone who isn't yet a speedster owner, I've learned alot from the comments posted by folks who know these cars really well.  It also weeds out sellers who have something to hide.  There's plenty of classifieds out there where comments aren't allowed.  I hope you guys continue to allow them here.

Now that I have reviewed all of the comments and opinions. The grills suck, the advertising is false, I will be shocked if he gets over $30k. However as we all know, there is a butt for every seat. The degree of buyer's remorse on these little babies has got to be in the 50% range. It is your level of commitment, perseverance, and money that allows you to properly sort out your new purchase for a couple of years, or dump it fast while the mileage is low to another moron that did not do their homework.

Best of luck. we all hope you find that moron but not likely here. Morons are generally   not in that price range though. If you do find him, he will be welcomed here with open arms because we for the most part of been there.
