While redoing my engine / tranny this winter, I'll make up a new set of custom spark plug wires. The thing is, I need Subaru plug wire ends to go on the spark plugs and Ford ends to go on the coil. The correct Subaru ends are nice because they include a nice rain shield which the lack of has caused me some grief over the years.

NGK sells a wire splicer or coupler kit that would do the trick. Has anyone used such a kit or found a different trick to join two pieces of spark plug wire ? Thanks.

David, did you mount the coil in the middle like Subaru does? Then buy Subaru wires.

You can carefully remove the Ford ends and put them back on, don't forget the plastic retainers first before the rubber/silicone pieces, then finally the brass. The plastic retainers are brittle after a while, one of mine is broken. I used a factory Ford set but added the VW airseals.

I'm wondering why you didn't just use the Subaru coil? They are functionally the same as Ford IIRC. Wouldn't that be easier? Get a Soob coil and connector and splice it in, done. Then just use a Soob wire set.

Giday, Danny. My carb base sits where the original Soob coil should be on top of the intake manifold. I didn't know that the Soob coil would be compatible with the Ford EDIS system so took no chances and it's mounted on the firewall. The Soob wires are just a bit too short to get to the coil.

I'm running stock Ford wires right now and they have no air seals and are hard to pull on to remove from the plugs so I'll correct that. They do let water down into the spark plugs and that buggers things up.
