Hello Everyone,
Its been a while since I've been within this site. I have been terribly busy. Anyway, I have a question for you all. I just finished my new 2110-cc engine and I need some inputs regarding what exhaust to get. I tried using a 1-5/8" merged Bug system but man it sits too low and extends out way too much. It really looks awkward! Has anyone found a good 1-5/8" mder system with heater boxes that would work fine for our vehicles. I am actually even considering cutting up two headers that I have to put together a custom one. I know I would have to try to keep the lengths of the primaries as close as original but that might be my only alternative. Please help me out before I indulge in a project unecessarily! Email me at speedy57tub@aol.com should you have any pics or ideas or want to share your exhaust experiences.
Thanks,
Tony

Ron,
What merged-header did you use? Most sit too low and yours seem to sit high and the heater box (I believe it looks like a custom job and only one heater-box, am I correct?) seems to be in the stock location unlike many Bug merged systems. Also, did you only have the collector part shortened? Please help, this is the last item I need to address.
Thanks for your help,
Tony

The merged header was from Bugpack, because it had the thickest tubing (there would be a lot of fabricating). The header was both shortened (2 or 3 inches) and raised up (I don't know how the fabricator raised it. I'm running two stock heater boxes that have 1 5/8" tubing in them and it all ends up going through one Magnaflow muffler. The picture doesn't show, but it's now ceramic coated (including heater boxes).

Thanks Guys! David, that header of yours may be the answer!

-----What make is it and where can I get it?-----

I have a friend here in Las Vegas who maybe able to fab me a heater box. I was thinking, for safety reasons, of flanging the pieces together and then using an airplane-type heat muff to collect the heat of one of the j-tubes. The outlet would be a stock lever heater flap valve from 914 (I got two of them on my shop table). I am also considering using some of my air from my 911 cooling shroud (which I fabricated myself). If I get this all done, I'll post pics and details since I know that a merged exhaust system is a recurring topic with our cars. Maybe I can fashion something up that will help many others with the same problem.
Thanks,
Tony
