It’s only 75 today, but thought I would cut up my decklid to get more cooling. Hopefully between sealing off my engine bay, this, and replacing/relocating the standard oil cooler I can keep the temps down when it gets hot this summer in Houston.

Just curious James.. Why did you cut it out like you did ?.....Bruce
Didn’t want to cut a hole in the middle if I ever get caught in the rain. Also with these cuts it doesn’t effect the rigid ness of the deck lid or mounting locations. From what I read on here air gets sucked out at speed so I figured cutting on the sides would increase the amount of air that can be sucked out at speed. (Sounded good in my head when I came up with the idea, lol )
Next time, James, leave all the inside corners rounded- 1/4 or 1/2" radius. It's a strength thing.
Much easier to make the little prop that other have made - fits on the latch assembly. According to Bernoulli's Principle air flow faster if opening is restricted -- What say you Doc Kelley (resident SOC rocket scientist).
Oh yea, thanks for the reminder, will make one up as well!
James, maybe this has been asked before but...are you related to Pat Garrett?
if so...your car should be an "outlaw"
A few branches down the family tree and you will certainly find him. Might get a coupe one day and make it an outlaw
James I've done a good deal of genealogical research (I'm a Garrett as well) and Pat Garrett doesn't show up in any limbs of my tree. As you know, there's a bunch of Garrett's around and several unrelated trees.
He didn't own a Speedster.
Oh yea, lots of unrelated trees. Actually most Garrett's that I meet are African Americans. (Was always curious on how that happened).
I am pretty sure his horse was called "Speedster"..

or Whitecloud...
look at a stock 356 deck lid. the factory had some cuts on the upper part of the lid over the fan area, this really helps pull in fresh air for the fan, they were only about 4 inches in each side and dont take away any strength. bill
