I need some advice. I have an IM 6 cylinder/915 transaxel. Ive gone through a number of CV boots on the inner axels. Ive spoken to Henry about the issue. Ive tried "offroad" high angle" boots, to no avail. Its seems the rubber rippled rings, (3xs fast) rub on each other and fail way to fast. ANYBODY got some advice. Any product out these that wont eat on itself????

Howard, do you have headers or exchangers? My inside CV boots disintegrated also and it looked to me like they are very close to the headers, within an inch or two. Seems to me that the heat off the headers could play a part so I wrapped the pipes with header wrap. Not sure if it will solve the problem as I've only put about 100 miles on the car since but it might be worth a look. Don't try any of the coloured boots out there either...they went the fastest on me.
Hey Howard, make certain that you do keep a close check on those boots. I had one split unbeknownst to me and apparently grit got into the CV joint. How do you spell catastrophic failure and a trip to the side of the road? That will sure do it. I hope you find a good solution, but in the meantime, be vigilant.

Since Henry built the car, Ive been through a number of cv boots. I have a home lift, so Im always under the car checking. Henry is working on a  solution, by the way. The angle of the drives shafts is about 20 degrees or so. Ive tried different boots, and after a long trip, I always check for failure. So far I havent done any damage. My Porsche tuner just smiles, loves the car and .......my wallet!

Howard,  Can you post a photo of it setup in the car. I want to see where they are ripping and what’s around them.  I have the 901 transaxle with the engine moved forward so my angle is pretty extreme as well. I’m using the larger 930 CV joints and black boots from Mckenzies performance http://www.mckenzies.com/ . On the inside next to the trans I’m using the large boot (LG 930/934 boot MRB-86-9301). On the outside I had to switch to the narrow boot(small 930 boot RPB-1000) as the large was rubbing the shock(I’m running bug IRS). I will pull a wheel and take a photo latter today. For what it's worth my exhaust runs right next to one of the outter boots and the heat has not been a problem.
