How about a commercial storage unit?
How about an idea about where you live ?
If we are talking real speedster, not replica, you may want to check with www.356registry.org for guidance.
Jason,
You would know better then me but it sounds like he wanted you to enjoy it and drive it and remember him in that manner - sounds like you had a very cool Dad. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
Jason take some time to ponder what to do, meanwhile....title and tag it rent a storage unit and "take Dad along for a ride" now and then...Alan
You definably need to find a place close to keep it clean dry and safe. A gift like that is to precious to sell. You have lost your Dad You have my condolences please don't lose his car.
I live on a ranch with two miles of rough dirt roads to the house, driving here would kill the car. So I rent a storage unit in town and park it there.
Post Pics and then call Overhaulen
Jason, First of all, sorry for your loss....
I imagine you have some other rememberances of your father other than the car.
Storing will just cost you money, and you will more than likely sell it at some point anyway...Either keep & enjoy it or sell it to someone who will keep it on the road where it belongs....
JASON A REP OR IS IT REAL
I still have my father's car stored. I last drove it two years ago, about a week before he died. It is stored commercially at $65 per month. Very secure, very dry, etc., and even though it is locked in the dark, it is still stored under cover.
I'm ready to drive it again. Some business trips ahead in the next few weeks, but I'll take it out probably in early September and enjoy it. Though the storage has set me back some $1600 or so dollars in the last two years, it was worth it as I sorted out how I felt about driving it, etc. Knowing that the car was wholly safe, nothing could fall on it, no damage etc., was worth it.
I would suggest that you buy a high quality car cover and drive the car for the next few months while the weather is friendly (not sure where you live). California Car Cover makes a terrific cover that is quite water proof (spend about $375 or so for the StormWeave - least I think that's the name) and your car will stay drive plus the paint will stay clean and without fine scratches from some of the cheaper covers. You will probably decide you want to keep it. At that point, store it for the winter in commercial storage.
I am assuming this is a replica - which a museum has no interest in.
