Well here is a used IM for sale with all the goodies, except AC...
Beautiful car. What are those blue lines on the motor?
It looks as if those two blue cables are for the carburetor choke mechanisms. Dale really loved that car, and I know he regrets having sold it.
It's a great car for that price.
I was at a Knotts Berry Farm kit car show many years ago looking at Spyders. I met Dale at the show with this beautiful car. First time I had ever seen an IM in person. I was very impressed. At the time I was set on a spyder and IM's were out of my price range. I think the car won a trophy that day. Chuck was also there with a Spyder and a green Lister. Great Cali day for this easterner.

Sync-linc linkage?
It has a hex linkage with helm joints. If the previous owner was going for super authenticity, he may have hooked up the hand throttle/chokes.
Where we commonly locate our wiper switch is actually a and pull choke type system. It's possible...
That car has been my poster car (ideal car) for years. Beautiful!!!
Is the interior more red than "pinky" the pics show?
Beautiful car.
You're right, Ted upon closer inspection it's evident...

My car is a 2002. It came with those blue choke cables. They got shredded when my fan belt began coming undone. When I had the carbs rebuilt I had them remove the choke assemblies.
These cars have gone up in value quite a bit since I bought mine. I'm thinking I had better up the value with Hagerty.
Man. that car is drop dead sexy. It's like Jim's car got dressed up for a night on the town.
I too need to call State Farm and up my policy.
As I said, those are probably choke cables. The last IM I owned had chokes on the Weber carbs, and I appreciated being able to use them when first starting and idling the car.
I have wondered about using the unused heater lever by the e-brake with a choke cable.
A lever is a lever is a lever ... I think

Your theory checks out...
Listing expired unsold and relisted with $1000 lower buy it now price to $39,000
That car is beautiful. If I had 35K and was looking for one... I'd float that offer out there.
