Does anyone have any "dash bulb holders" and/or 1.2v bulbs for the original Beetle? The bulbs are these and the holders are these (except I want the spade connector if you got). I know, cheap and available, but with shipping and all I just thought I'd beg for them from you guys first--especially since I could swear I bought a bunch extra of these 2 years ago when I did the dash rebuild but can't locate now...

FYI what I want them for is the "Check Engine" and/or "temp" or oil indicators from the Suby ECU. Right now I have check engine glowing brightly on the center cluster but I'd like to remove it to the speedo--maybe where "GEN" is now next to the turn signal indicator. Smaller. Subtle. I'd put the oil or temp light on the cluster where it would likely never light except on startup. . .

Let me know if you got a spare to sell.

Thanks, Jim, I'm hoping for new spares, though with a holder I don't think it should matter much.

Gordon: dialogue sent. And thanks.

Looks like I'll need only one as my "temp" wire wants a proper modern gauge. The lack of same may be giving me a check engine code--P0133--which is nominally about an oxygen sensor's speed but may also be telling me the temp sensor is bad, which the computer might think is the case because that wire is not hooked up. I'm going to look into that.

Well, DUH!  The computer isn't looking to see whether that sensor is "off" or "on" - it's looking to see if is there at all!  The sensor is sending out a signal, referenced to ground, most likely, between specific lo and hi voltage reference points.  If it is outside of those reference points (like the sensor doesn't even appear) the 'puter will throw a code.

On the lamp holder, send me a dialog with your home address.  I found a very good used one in my stash and will send it out to you (Jim- even I would trust it!).

Sorry, but for the life of me I cannot find my spare bulbs, but then, I've moved three times in the past 15 years and have misplaced a few items, here and there.  I dug out an old Palm Pilot file and found that they are supposed to be 12V  2 watt, BA7 bulbs (Jahn/Bosch 1551) and should be available just about anywhere there is an internet connection
