How about getting extra piece/pieces of the side moulding used on Speedsters or even VW side molding (its polished aluminum) and use the screws or clips that come with it? Or using hot glue to secure studs on current into the nylon insets. Post a couple photos might help seeing what you have. I can;t envision leather being that much thicker than the original vinyl. Could you grind out the back of the fiberglass dash where the studs protrude? I did that for my emblems and it let me attach the securing nuts.
Thanks for the suggestions. I called VS and they said they use the original nylon for both leather and vinyl. I was able to use them. The entire interior is now complete. The water buffalo hide looks great and I hope it will last for a long time. Cars and Coffee on Saturday morning to see what everyone else thinks.
