Dashboard switch

Can someone tell me what the pull switch in the middle of the dashboard is for??? It is connected electrically, with a two stage pull operated button similar to the light switch.

While on the subject of trying to figure out what each item operates; what about the dial type thing-a-ma-bob behind the emergency brake???

The switch might be for wipers.

The dial type thing is probably to turn on the heat.

This is all speculation on my part since I am not a Beck owner.

The switch might also control a blower for the heat if you have already found the wiper switch.

The wiper switch is on the steering column on this car. Originally I thought the same.

It probably runs the heater blower fan, if you have one. That's what mine does. If not, it's a mystery to me.

It looks like I did pretty good with my guess work.

Should be the heater blower fan switch...if you've got heat.

I don't think it has a heater as I don't see any vents. I pull the switch and I don't hear or feel anything. Maybe when it goes out to Bremen, I'll add this to my list.

I agree with Lane. Usually, it's a blower switch. It could be a lot of things, though. Next thought would be driving lights.

It's the blower fan switch whether you have heat or a blower.
The blower would be located on the upper shelf in the engine bay.
Yours doesn't appear to have the fan there, but you do have engine vent tubing. If you don't have a blower and want one, I have one.

Do you have a remote oil cooler and fan?

Could it be for a defroster? Do you have the vents on top of the dash??

Yes, there are vents but when pulled nothing comes out of those. I'll check for fan in the engine compartment, but I didn't notice anything before. Time to investigate further as it is a nice, bright sunny day.

You have no fan in the engine bay, Steve, I looked at your photos.
I had a fan, the switch and nothing wired. I am certain it is the switch for the blower fan. Switch is just standard equipment on Becks.

After looking closer at your picture, I see that there is a wired connection going to nothing. It appears that a hole was planned right where your fan is as I see a slight circular marking. I see black tubes running toward the front of the car from underneath. Possibly these are to the defroster vents??

Steven, from what I see, your car didn't come with the optional blower, as you have the silver duct tubes coming off the fan shroud. But, that doesn't mean your car isn't wired for a blower. My guess is that the switch and wiring are installed regardless, allowing an easy upgrade later on. You said you have wires that go to nothing. Do the colors of the wires match the wires on the switch? The black tubes you see carry the heat to the front vents.

I would have to go back under the dash, but I think they were yellow and black. They had a plug like connector at the end of the wires, plus due to where it is positioned; I would assume that they would be for the blower.

Yes, the switch is wired into all cars as a standard and is inteneded for a blower fan, and is pre wired to a yellow and brown in the engine bay for the same. If one has no blower fan but does have a powered accessory such as fogs, then this becomes the fog switch, etc...

Takes a little of extra time with 40/44/48 Webers vs. 34s or Kardons/Solexes, but even the "harder" way isn't that hard...
