To affix a dead pedal through the carpeting into the fiberglass bulkhead would a small pilot hole followed by self tapping wood screws do the job...or do I need nuts and bolts?
I'd use stainless steel bolts with large fender washers or a piecel of aluminum under carpet and on the other side --- i case you use the dead pedal as an additiona brake.
I plan on installing a dead pedal when I get my car back, and I will use nuts and bolts. As Wolfgang mentioned, a dead pedal can get a pretty good workout and I don't thing screws will be enough.
Carl, When adding anything on top of Carpet, it's wise to cut a hole in the carpet first, if you use a screw, it has a tendency to grab the fibers in the carpet and pull threads. I cut a small hole in the carpet then separate the carpet and insert a drill bit in the carpet hole. Drill the hole then use a bolt, washer and nut.
