Jim,
You folks in Sandy Eegoo should be shot ... just on general principles! We have already had -18 at the Pleasant Valley Ranch in Loveland and up in the mountains last week it was a balmy -39. I just spent 4 hours shoveling out the drive to the big garage and they tell us we are going to get more snow Tuesday. (Not as bad as the East Coast, but we have had it now for weeks!!) And you guys wonder why I have decided it is time to move????????

Happy sledding trails,
Dusty and the frozen LMS

Just spent two days driving up to New england to see everyone for the Holidays.

It sucked.

What usually takes 18-1/2 hours took just about 23 hours. LOTS of stop and go and we even took the inland route to avoid the traffic.

Even sat still for three hours out in the middle of No Where, Virginia, on I81 because some "Professional Truck Driver" managed to get wedged under a bridge with a tall load. (musta been from J.B. Hunt, huh, Alan??)

Anyway, we're here, El Guapo is enjoying the Sun Coast for us, and after we get our 12"+ of snow tonight, it'll be a White Christmas.

And then we have to drive back home with all of the other nuts out there on the Interstates.

Ya gotta love Holidays.

Big truck crashes are for the most part caused by inexperienced young drivers and half assed small car drivers. In bad weather it's the seasoned driver who is first to pull off the road ... no load is worth a loss of life.
J.B. Hunt, Swift, or Schneider..they all hire right out of Community College Driving Schools or worse "train them" in house then cut them loose way too soon from their driver trainers after minimum hours of instruction to get another load delivered ...that's when the serious crap happens.
Here's a rookie driver's mistake running down through Donner's Pass way too fast, along with a driver trainer no less. This cost both of them their lives. ~Alan

I got up early and went for a sunrise drive down PCH thru Huntington. What a great sunrise! We had one week of winter and now it's summer again. Stoped by "Donut Derilics" at Magnolia and Adams. Meet a guy there with a 57 Original Speedster same colors as mine.Funny, everyone thought his was plastic! I had to tell a few people that this was an original and mine was a replica. He bought his 14 years ago and drives it all the time.
We have 12" + here and early this morning I helped dig the electric co. truck out of a snow drift so he could get up the street to put the broken wires back together that were taken out by a tree limb. No power since last night. Kind of a flashback to a previous life. It's about 30F with a wind of 35 with gusts to 55. A lovely day on "Old Cape Cod".
On the bright side, no bugs,no traffic, no earthquakes, no mud slides, no heat stroke, no wild fires (except in the wood stove), no tourists, a full bottle of Scotch, the juice is back on and so is football. Could be worse. Merry Christmas y"all.

Took the car out for its first ride in weeks, with the new fuel pump in place. The German Hule pump worked just fine. Hopefully I won't have any problems with it like I had with the CB thingie. Also have the new KYB GR-2 shocks on the front. Ride was no stiffer as far as I could tell, and the shimmy was better controlled. Now I gotta get the ones on the back.

The day was sunny but temps in the upper 40's meant I had the top up. With the windows on and the heat going it was quite cozy. I think the car enjoyed the cold, dense air, as it seemed to love it when I stopped the gas. Zoom, zoom!
hi speedsterpoeple, just shovelt 6 feet of sunshine of oceandrive went back to the pool,it was full with blistering sunrays, finally i startet my speedy up for a spin in miami beach and got some action from tourists and locals checking my 356 jps replica out and ignoring totally the ferraris and lamboghinis competing for attention,it feels great,i do it almost everyday, but i had to tell you guys, also run into the boss from UNIQUE MOTORSPORTS the tv show on speed tv,loves my car, anyway a merry cristmas and a happy new year to all you speedsternuts in the wide world, herbert hofer.
Howard, EVERYBODY and their brother goes to Hunter. Try Windham, I like their trails better but don't ski any more. Less than an hour from my house, too.

We got about one inch, three fell at my job, 20 minutes east. My buddy in Rhinebeck got zero snow. I got to play rally driver this morning, pulling e-brake to force the back end out then flooring it into a four-wheel sideways drift around the corners! No traffic at all at 6:30 a.m., but lots of fun on summer tires in the Subie.

I did drive the Spyder in a torrential downpour once, and it REALLY sucked. Worse traction than ice, think raw egg under your right foot.
