Deck Lid Cuttin, Screen is to Large -- HELP!

I am building a CMC. The instructions require that you cut the inner section of of the Engine Lid to fit the screen. The problem is that the screen is larger than the inner scection. In Fact if I cut it anymore, I will take the lip off, and not be able to screw it in place.

Has anyone had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

I'm assuming the screen is the grill that goes in the decklid. If so, is it possible you have a grill from a VS or Beck or... maybe? They are slightly larger than CMC's and could cause the problem.

By screen you mean the rear engine grill? The one from CMC is one piece cast alloy - often called a hibachi grill. Sounds like you have another manufacurer's or OEM grill. They are 1/4" larger and require the entire opening to be enlarged and the liner to be reattached. The CMC hibachi grill slides right in - tight fit with not even enough room for a rubber gasket. Ok, I have one from another vendor. Do you know where I can get a CMC one?

I would use the one you have --- advantage is you can then use the VS luggage rack and a rubber gasket around the grill if desired. Plus the Hibachi grill is a quick replica give-away. Since the lip will be covered you can use fiberglass/body filler to fill in the area and give you a place for the screws/bolts to connect too.
