I need the left hinge bracket for a CMC replica. Not the part on the Deck lid but the bracket the hinge connects to. Any suggestions? Thanks

Mine are made from steel (I hear some were plastic?). Should be able to make a metal one.

Piece of sheet metal ACE, Tractor Supply etc. easy to fabricate.
Thanks for the drawing. I was hoping to find them for sale but if I can't I'll try and have it made.
My CMC brackets are plastic.
Plastic! That might explain why it broke. I guess I better take a closer look and come up with a solution within my skill set if I can't find replacement
Thanks
I have had no problems with my plastic brackets.
My CMC was delivered Nov 1988 - Mike's is around same vintage - maybe a year newer? In the build manual figure I posted - they look to be plastic. In an earlier build manual they look to be bent steel. After near 30 years - I can see plastic hardening under engine heat and disintegrating! Especially where the hold open lock pin goes thru it. Here's the earlier figure -
Here's from a FFF build manual - which shows exactly what my steel one looks like -

I got mine in 1983. Everywhere there was a hole in the brackets I drilled and tapped a hole and screwed in a brake line fitting so the holes would be lined with metal and wouldn't wear like the plastic.
Regardless of what's in there now, I would make a new one out of metal. And if the remaining one is plastic I would make a steel one for that side, too.
In the 5 years between when Wolfgang and Michael M bought their CMCs (1988-ish) and when I bought mine in 1993, CMC went to metal hinge mounts - What does that tell you?
There's nothing exotic about them, other than there is a left and right one (mirrored). They're 1/8" (.125") thick mild steel sheet metal available at any ACE Hardware, Home Depot or Lowes. Take off the unbroken one, make a light cardboard template from that one noting where it's bent, then make two out of steel, bending them for left and right. Paint them with a rattle can color of your choice. Should be a Saturday afternoon job (or a couple of weeknights).
Really, the toughest part of this job is reaching way up inside of the void between the firewall and rear seat to get to the bolt/nuts hiding up in there. You'll need another person inside the engine compartment while you release the hinge mounting nuts.
And Welcome to CMC Speedster Ownership!
Thanks much. I'll try this!
