I've loved the chirp on mine for the past 16 years or more....

(Knock on wood) I haven’t touched mine for two seasons now except for cleaning and re-oiling my filter and pre-filter last summer.
It’s getting to be time, though. Last trip to the hills it was missing when I blipped on downshifts up near the summit.
(Still knocking on wood)
I really need to get some bungs welded in my exhaust do I can lean on my buddy who has a machine. And South of Dave, one of the best carb guys I know. Learned to tune carbs by ear from his dad, who was worked at the Porsche factory with Vasek Pollak before they both immigrated to the states.

Yup. That's the thick one. They work fine, but if your intake ports on the head are "D" or large oval shaped leaving very little (less than 1/8" ) metal between ports these can allow sucking of the gasket material out between the ports and give you an undetectable vacuum leak between ports inside of the manifold. Ask me how I know (multiple times).

These are not the intake manifold-to-head gaskets.
The gaskets above are the manifold -to-carb gaskets. They are fine.
