Went to the Detroit Autorama 2005 last weekend...

As someone who does not have the cultural background of the muscle cars and hot rods it was v. interesting to see the depth and breadth of vehicles, parts and accessories that are available.

Also interesting was the, new this year, exhibitions for tuner imports and rat rods.

I have put a few photos in my folder for those interested.

Of course, as far as my daughters were concerned the highlight of the show was meeting this character!

Jim.

Jim:

Nice picture of you with your two girls!!

That bubble-machine on the right looks like one from "Big Daddy" Ed Roth, the original Rat Man - am I right??

Too bad when you were growing up in the UK that you didn't have 6.5 litre GTO's, 409 Chevy's and Hemi-Cuda's lurking around every corner as we had. Heck, even the Massachusetts Turnpike Police had Hemi-powered station wagons as Turnpike Cruisers (reputed to be capable of 160 MPH on the I-90 Turnpike).

Ahhhhhh......for the good old days!! The smell of over-rich carburation and burning rubber!!
