Just read an article on the new tunnels and bridges along the coast in NOCAL to bypass Devil's Slide. Who will be the first westcoaster to drive that stretch with their Hero camera system and give the rest of us a thrill?
I want to hear the sound of a screaming speedster through those tunnels!

Hey Bob! - We've done many trips to Carmel/Monterey/San Francisco taking the famous Hwy 1 along that spectaular coast. Apparently, this Devil's Slide tunnel will bypass a portion of Hwy 1 about 15 miles south of San Francisco. This section of Hwy 1 always gave us chills thinking about how many times that portion of roadway had huge boulders crash down onto the road or how many times a section of that roadway collapsed and tumbled several hundred feet down to the ocean.
I will definitely make it a point to film our first passage through that mile-long tunnel. Posted speed limit through the single lane tunnel is 45MPH! I wonder if it says anything about not honking loud air-horns? 
Downshift and make as much noise as possible! I was on the old road several times in the 60's-70's.
Should change the experience considerably between the long tunnels and the new bridges.

I live about 20 minutes from Devils Slide and was actually able to walk the new tunnel before its opening on a tour. It was very cool.
Colt, that sounds very cool! I Googled that tunnel and saw some cool video of the build. Pretty awesome! That would be an adventure to cruise down that coastline in your RR (classic?).
