I speak for the entire Cal-Look.com staff when I say that we are deeply saddened by George's passing. I personally bought some parts from George for my 911 and enjoyed speaking with him on the phone several times. But what I will remember George for is his antics on our message board, the "Cal-Look Forum". As a moderator, there were more than a few times that I had to keep a close eye on some of the discussions between George and his favorite sparring partners. =) You could tell that when the arguments got going, that he was having a good time pushing the buttons! =)

Unfortunatly, very few of us on the CLF ever got the chance to meet George in person. I would like to ask that if anyone has a good picture of George and his Porsche to please email a copy to me so that we could post it on our site. You can reach me at Dave@cal-look.com

Thank you,
Dave Conklin

This is truly sad news. George is the main reason I joined this group. He touched everyone on this site and we all benefitted from his vast experience and knowledge.
Jennifer, my thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope you can spend some time here on this sight, checking out the impact your father has made.
He will be missed.
Terry
Jennifer,

I am truly sad to hear of your dads passing. I knew him well and just exchanged e-mails with him last week. George and I met about four years ago through the SOC and became fast friends. He was working on my JPS Speedster adjusting the carbs, yes he was smoking a cigarette, and made a passing remark about wanting to change his Convertible D into a Carrera GT. We started talking about all the things that he wanted to do and that
Jennifer,

My condolences on your loss.
Your father was the first person to give me a hard time on this forum, and also the first to greet me with a smile at Carlisle.
Your dad and I spent time swapping stories about everything from speedsters to physics.
He never missed a chance to give me a hard time, and even though we didn't agree on everything, we could always agree to disagree, without any animosity.
GB will be greatly missed.

Carey
Jennifer,

I'm sorry for your loss. I've been posting here since 2000, and I think your dad was a fixture when I first logged on. He was never afraid to take a stand for what he believed to be the truth, even when people didn't want to hear it. He was generous with his time, spare parts, and advice- even when he got nothing in return. His approach to building a car set the standard for all of us- no compromise, only the best.

He knew life was short, and that holding back to be "prudent" was pointless. He knew he'd never recoup his investment in his car, but it never stopped him from doing what gave him the most pleasure- doing something right. He will be missed by all of us here.
Jennifer,
I am truly sorry to hear of George's passing. I have only been a member of this site for 5 months, and I know that George was a pillar of this community. He was one of the first to help me decide on an engine for my speedster, the engine is in the build stage as I write this; it has many parts that George suggested that I add for a reliable engine. I'm thinking he's up in Heaven right now trying to tweak a little more horsepower into God's speedster......

Dear Jennifer,

I met your father last year at Carlisle, PA. We had corresponded via email before and he helped me with an engine problem. We had lunch together, while consuming a huge sausage, he was telling me the maximum size wheel and tire combination that can be used on my Intermeccanica Roadster. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of cars, and mechanics. He had a 'crusty' exterior, but with a little prodding, he gladly shared his knowledge and experience.
I will miss his acerbic wit, and mostly his altruistic nature.
Deepest condolences to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Tenzin Gyaltsan
Jennifer,
My condolences also, as when I tried to sell my car after a bad motorcycle accident, George emailed me and asked why would I sell it after all the work I did on it? So I actually kept it an now I am a paint job and a dash repair away from finishing it. I am so sorry to hear of his passing....

jennifer,
Very sorry to hear about your father. He was definitely a great asset to this forum and his inputs undoubtedly helped a great many of us. We, in this forum and beyond, are very passionate of our cars. As you already probably also know, your dad was very into his car. He will be missed.
This is a huge shock, and very sad news. Jennifer, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Bruce Gordon and I had the pleasure of spending a day with George here in Vancouver during one of his visits while his second IM was being built. What a character, and what a wealth of knowledge. He will be deeply missed on this forum.

Ron

My condolences as well on the passing of your dad.

He was invaluable to me over the years from advice on titleing my tub, taming the turbo motor, syncing the carbs, and on and on. He'll be missed by all on here in the past and present, but even moreso by those in the future that won't have his sage advice to "do it right the first time" on their speedster projects.
