Now is your chance. I opened up my tank like a can of old tuna and surprise!surprise! Rust scale and the beginning of general corrosion and pitting. Very poor design. The fuel bung is not at the very bottom of the tank. Water settles out of the gas , lays at the bottom and causes the internal corrosion issues. I guess that's why most VW owners recommend seal coating the tank internals. Eastwood sell a tank coating kit. I am changing the fuel bung location and coating the internals of my fab'd tank.

Joe, I think relocating the Bung is a great idea. I installed a 16 gal in my (now sold) VS and thought the location could have been better but installed it stock. Relocating it should give a little more capacity. Anyway, I may not be doing it again anytime soon, but for reference it would be cool if you posted pics and something in the knowledge file.
