But this is what happens when you go for a drive and you hear a noise that you can't quite put you finger one... I ordered a new air hose and it did not come Friday as I was hoping. I knew I needed to get access to the rear area of the shroud so I completely undressed the engine, this time top down instead of removing the engine. The cooling fan was intermittently rubbing against a shroud screw and I could not get to it. So I removed the alternator, then after seeing another "future" issue, I pulled the DTM shroud to adjust a vane, cleaned it and left it out to install the new air house when it comes. Then I realized that the carb gasket had a tear in it and that was probably causing the backfiring, so I pulled the carbs and cleaned them. I am also going to add a vacuum line to the carb manifolds while I am at it. I drove the car for about 15 minutes on Saturday, then started to undress. Now I just have to wait for the parts to arrive and put it all back together.

And the kicker... still couldn't wire the horn.

OK, and this sounds SO much like a lie that I'm having trouble believing that it happened myself . . .

We were pretty much all set to bring the TR8 down for a nice "flip" but it just came out SO sweet, after a good cleaning and power wash, that George decided to buy everyone out and KEEP IT! COOL ! ! ! Worth going down anyway and NOW we all had some of George's cash to spend. Todd's dad phoned the night before and said that one of the older family members had died and everyone was gathering in PA for the funeral and reading of his Will. Great, a trip and some extra "inherited" cash for Todd. Then his Dad wanted to ride with us. No problem, we were going in the 250 Super Duty, LOTS of extra cab room.

But in the end the family decided that it was going to be an extended viewing in order to accommodate some distant travelers, THEN the funeral and reading. Too long of a trip, as it would have stretched until this Thursday.

MAYBE next year, depending upon my work schedule.

So . . . Cory . . . just shove my s#it into a box and send it to me. If you need the address, email me. I'll cover the shipping, no sweat.
