Dip stick with built-in tempature gauge?

It is one of the most popular items with some of the folks here. Steve O'Brien lent me his once and they work very nicely. Some other people say you can get by with a meat thermometer without having the $50 plus to get it. I get by nicely with my Gene Berg oil temperature dipstick for $20.00.
