Since my SAS speedster has no way of locking the doors or ignition, is there a way to disable the engine from running short of taking out the battery?

One of the absolute best ways to disable a Subaru requires a little work on your part. Just above where the center crank pulley would be is the crankshaft position sensor. It's either a brown or black color and has one 6mm bolt (10mm across the flats of the bolt) that holds it in position. It rides in a boss that's part of the engine case. Trace those wires back to the ECU then cut one of those wires and install a hidden switch. Once that circuit is open, they can't start the car, only tow it away unless they're smart enough to find the switch.
Steve installed a kill switch under my dash that I have never used. I rediscovered it while "down under" replacing a courtesy light. Perhaps he did the same on yours? If not, perhaps he can instruct you on what to do. Why don't you post it on the page for Steve on the SAS owners website.
I prefer to install a switch to disable the fuel pump.
Just wondering what your logic is in that, Jake. If the car makes a short getaway it might be near some thief's friendly helpers and when the speedster stops he might escape or chose to damage the car. If the car won't start, he might just bugger off.
Any EFI engine with no fuel pressure won't even fire up... It'll hit a lick or two but won't move 2 feet under its own power. You must have limited EFI experience?
He might have been thinking carbs, Jake. Fuel in the float chambers could take you a block or two. Seems to me that, at least for those of us with carbs, a cutoff for the fuel pump AND the ignition would be cheal insurance.
Ah, yes Jake..sorry to waste the bandwidth and your time by not reading the subject line. I was thinking carbs as that's what I put on my Soob on my speedster and earlier on my Soob in my airplane. And yes, zero efi experience.
