Just took delivery of my new Vintage Speedster and couldn't be happier. And, with great fortune immediately discovered a scenic drive in So Cal I believe no member has taken.

South of LA I took Highway 74 East to the Elsinore Mtns. Turned left at Main Divide Road. Traveled about six miles in a deep fog and turned right on a road with no name. Eventually came to a sign that read Old Forest Road,  Eriador.  It was the experience of a lifetime. I met several little people with hair on their feet. They were friendly but did asked me not to divulge anymore information. I did take several pictures however:

Ron - congrats on taking delivery of your Speedster! That first drive is exhilarating, and it never gets old. This would be especially true with your drive on Ortega Hwy, a nicely paved 2-lane winding road through the mountains to Lake Elsinore. Glad you had a fun day of top-down exploring in your Speedster.

Taking a left (North) on Main Divide as you did, is indeed a very nice drive through higher elevation (just over 5,000) and eventually loops back around to re-join Ortega Hwy (hwy 74) in the vicinity of El Cariso (a State campground and small enclave of secluded homes). There is a dirt-road (4x4 only) near the viewpoint you pictured. This road takes a steep descent (deep ruts, and off camber hairpins) into Lake Elsinore. A fun day-trip I've done several times in my old beater Range Rover.

A right (South) onto Main Divide leads to secluded horse porperty homes and an OHV park.

Here's wishing you many years and miles of very gratifying cruising in your Speedster!

Peace-Out!
