Wonder if AL decided in favor of having VS do the repairs on Paul's car, or perhaps it was in the best interest to have VS to the repairs in their own stable, something I would feel more confident with myself per recent posts of other satisfied VS customers.

Bruce, I hear yea!!! I have to say that while I trust most of the mechanics I have had work on airplanes that I fly, there are a few that I wouldn't allow to touch anything on the airplane.
A few months back a friend of mine learned the hard way about trusting some airplane mechanics too much, and it killed him.

Steve, I used to look up to people(when I was a kid) because of their profession. I respected Doctors(and the advice they gave), cops(respected and followed their directions), executives(I naively thought they got to where they were on merit). What I learned---
people are people, they make mistakes, f'up on occasion, some are drunks, wear womens underwear under their uniform etc...In all professions they exist. But using this type of nut without a locking
feature is "commom sense 101"---That guy is dangerous!
P.S.-Sorry to hear about your friend. A small error can lead to
grave results.

Right on Bruce.
The error was forgetting to put the oil dipstick back in, my friends error was not checking it himself like he was suppose to....one seized engine and no ability to feather the prop....he didn't make it back to the airport, but did manage to fly between a farmers house and barn before trying to land in pasture that had been freshly chissled plowed.
It has been a tough loss, I still think about him daily.

Just another update!
I talked to kurk today on the phone. What a very nice fellow. He has a whole new A/C unit on order. It should be in anyday. He is inspecting the front end components and doing a little extra. He is tuning it up and changing the oil at no charge...as well as rebuffing the whole car. As for the bill that I am still owed for what I had to pay the dealership..he is going to install the headlight guards. Then he is loading it up and shipping it back to me. I am feeling so much better about the whole situation. They assured me that if they knew about everything before..it would have been taken care of..way back when. Thank you so much Vintage.
