Hi All -
I am kinda digging the look of the rubber floor coverings in the original speedster. Being the only the rear section of the pan is cut, does anyone know if the beetle front rubber floor covers fit?
Thanks -

i too have been interested in swapping out the carpet for the rubber flooring.
It will fit if you have a VW pan based car. I used CoCo mats from VW bug and they fit perfect.
The front one should fit, but anything behind the seat wouldn't. That assumes a pan based car that has been shortened the standard way with the piece removed just about where the rear seat in a beetle would be.
The front one fits. I purchased mine from wolfburgwest. The 1968-1972 model.
You will have to cut the shifter hole in the mat to fit your installation. Also, this motivated me to build an angled foot stand ( pedal board ) on the passenger side. The 356 pedal board sets are sold by Sierra madre, and were originally made of plywood... restoring my 356 game me the idea of creating one for the VS/ VW floor board. Makes for a much more comfortable driving experience for the passenger. ( simple afternoon weekend project requiring only plywood, Velcro to stick to existing carpet, and matching carpeting material to cover the plywood)..

happy shopping.
I have a VS with '62 pan. Thinking about going rubber rather than going Coco Mats - because I live near the beach. But the black with silver dot Coco Mats look pretty cool. Calling Wolfburg West now.
If you live near the beach, (lucky guy.......) I would go with BOTH rubber mats on the floor AND the coco mats, because any sand brought on board will filter down through the coco mats and disappear. Every so often you can yank the cocos out, vacuum the sand off of the rubber mats and throw the cocos back in, just like I used to do with my Dune Buggy.
Best of all worlds.
Gordon. Cocomats have a rubber backing that prevents the dirt and sand from ever getting to your carpet. That's the beauty of them, you just shake them out every so often.
Oh, Yeah? Well, THAT just shows how long it's been since I even touched a coco mat!
I don't think the ones I remember in the 60's had that rubber backing - you could even flip them over and they looked pretty much the same, and they would let the sand through. That was the beauty of them in my buggies.
I guess time (and this old guy) have moved on..... Coco mats included.
@ZFNHSN Don't listen to me! Go with whatever feels good. Personally, I would pro'bly go with black rubber mats except that I have this YUGE! roll (Biggest roll in the WORLD!) of Burgundy carpet material that I've been cutting up and using for fitted floor mats for decades - And I've still got half of the original roll left!
Thanks for keeping me honest, Troy!
