do i need caster shims?

'76 shortened pan, I lowered 'er with 2 1/2 in. drop spindles, (no adjustable beam), dropped the rear with the torsion bars and swapped the trailing arms (for camber)
I haven't got er on the road yet and don't know if caster shims are needed. Any thoughts?

I would think you'll need at least one shim on each side like I have.
There are longer bolts for the bottom beam mounts available.
This is a "fun" improvement as you can REALLY tell the difference after you install them. Before, you can hardly keep the thing on the road and after...smooth and straight. An initial alignment is recommended,too.

VW Performance Handbook by Keith Sueme says with dropped spindles you don't need them. Ok its written by gue name Sue-me. He cautions that there are both welded and forged dropped spindle - and recommends the more costly forged ones. They are cheap so wouldn't hurt to have on hand incase alignment guy says you need.
