I'd love some advice. I have a cherry 911sc Targa that I love, but want to go back to the open roadster roots. I've never driven a spyder, but have seen one on the road before. If anyone knows a spyder in SF you can put me in touch with so I can see if I like the drive/feel, that would be great. My gut tells me that I will love the switch.

Jason: Consider how often your drive your Targa. Is it a play only car? A Spyder would most likely be a play only car as it is not the best car to be driving in the rain.
I'm not trying to disuade you, Spyders are outrageously fun to drive.

If you do test drive one, take it up route 9 through Saratoga to route 35 (Skyline drive) head north and then come back down Page Mill road to the foot hills expressway. That'll be a gas!
Thanks. Great suggestion. I really only drive my porsche on weekends and for fun, not as a daily driver. I live and work in the city and take public trans to work. I do drive it during the week sometimes, but never really in the rain. That's why I thought it might be a nice replacement. Have a wife and kid, and can't drive the Targa with them anyway, so getting another car for me only isn't a problem.

BTW, might take my Targa on that same route. Sounds like a blast.
Jason: I used to ride my bicycle on that route. If you do it in your 911, go early in the morning to beat the traffic.
Also, be careful decending Page Mill, there are some knarly hairpins.

I owned a '69S and I would have to say that 90% of the time the Spyder is more fun. The other 10% has to do with top end and weather.
Cheers!
