I always thought the car used in the movie was an IM or VS. Not to mention that someone in the business told us on here a few years ago that the fence the car hit was styrofoam (and wouldn't have meade a scratch on the car).

Rent the movie and take a close look - the car used in the movie is definitely NOT a CMC - I think it was a VS by the door and dash trim.

$30K seems a tad higher than the $12K it's probably worth....
Interesting thread because about 10 years ago I almost bought this car---or one of the four reproductions made for the movie.

The owner of the car I was looking at was in Texas and it was in the coldest part of winter and the car had no top. I was planning to drive it to AR but without a top I ost interest. This car was never fitted with a top in the first place.

This owner seemed knowledgable about the cars made for the movie. One. of course had to drive and look good. Another was a pile of parts for the scenes in the shop ---the owther two, I don't know ---maybe one was an "after hitting fence" car. I always thought that I was negotiating for the one that was in good shape.

I don't remember the price but it was affordable---and it sure wasn't any $30k. You can see ho long I have admired the Speedster from this!

It would have been fun to own the "Doc Hollywood" Speedster but I'm very happy with my nice Vintage.

Sort of "the rest of the story".---Jack
As to a Vintage rather than a CMC, I was going off the information from our own "sightings" tab above and I have never seen a Vintage with 914 gauges vs. the repo 356/550 type he uses now.

Sentimental value is what that car is all about. Every time I see the movie I dread the day I sold my IM, and then my VS, even though the 550 is awesome, it is WAY WILD and I miss the TUB!

Cheers, THOM
