Does anybody know where to find this deck lid lock?

I have NOS extra one - how's $26 shipped?  They were on CMC/FF cars.  One from a 914 engine compartment would probably work but might take redrilling.  

Here's the 914 one.  No # or marks on CMC supplied one.

 

Thanks for your help, what is the distance of the anchor screws (center to center) ?

Also I saw someone posted that adding a spring would help the lid to pop when the cable is pulled. (that is my problem). I might try this first, if that does not work I will change it.

From your picture - your's doesn't look bad.  Of course, it doesn't look like cable is connected to it.  Take it off and clean it, then add a little lithium grease to moving parts.  It could also be mis-alignment, too big or too long of a striker bolt.

Yes my cable broke and I have ordered another one, I will take off the lock and clean and grease it again, then add a spring to help the lid pop

You might also consider an emergency release. I have second wired running straight down, so that, in the event of a main cable failure, I can reach under and still get it open.

what do you just have wires just hanging down from the lock?

 

 

I've always been able to get the front open from underneath, with a screwdriver.  

But the rear...the second emergency release sounds like a great idea!

Please explain how you did it. 

I can't remember where I read that some builder was adding a second cable then running the cable along the edge and having some sort of undercoating or caulking holding the end ... He always knew where it was in case of emergency but it was not evident.  Haven't done it myself yet,...

You could also add an electrical trunk lid popper and use the cable as backup.

That was a $24 kit from Summit Racing.  Any hot rod supply place or JC Whitney would have them too.  Has 45# pull.

For the engine lid I ran a second cable to a hole in the bottom tin (simple second cable connected in parallel) For the front I have a simple hole drilled in line with the front lock (I think a lot of you guys have your battery there, I have my spare wheel). Hooked on a shaped coat hanger wire with a "D" handle under the front wheel arch...straight pull.

I just installed my emergency engine lid release. It was very simple to install and it is very comforting to have.
