I've used Google (as silly as it sounds) for a lot of my inspiration.
I also bought a handful of what we over here call "coffee-table books" to see what other manufacturers from the era were doing with bodywork and chassis modifications. It helped me to re-create the design work for my own purposes.
I don't know if a coffee-table book makes sense over there; they're usually large in dimension and thin, less than 100 pages, too big for the bookshelf. Most seem to contain more photos than text.
Usually, they end up on the sitting table in the middle of the living room.
That's where some of my better modifications came from. Old Jags and Porsches have been heavily documented.
