Does anyone know this car - II

We spotted this Speedster-R in a parking lot at San Simeon last spring. Someone was doing a nice job of prepping the car for paint and it had a good outlaw look going for it. Anyway, I've been watching the pic files to see the finished results. (?)

That look's like Ray Armstrong's (OLDMAN) beck speedster.

I'll bet you are right, Theron. It recall Ray was talking about painting it last year. The wheels and Nerf bars sure look like his.

Some how I don't think it is Ray's. I don't think he had that type of trunk lid and he always drove with the head rest fairing. I will find out for sure this weekend as Ray is driving up for the SOT, Southern Oregon Tour.

It's Ray's, Jim Bob. You know, with the primer like that it looks like an original.

It's the Ray machine. I know for sure. The license frame says NEILLO, which is a Sacramento VW/P and others mega-dealer. He has some work done there, I think by his kid who works for Neillo.

Thanks for IDing it. Terry, I do like the look. It caught my eye then and I've wondered what color of paint he was going to have shot. Maybe we will see pics from the SOT. Ray?

Jim; I still haven't painted it yet,planning to do a little more glass work , and much more sanding . I was going with a dove grey,but my daughter bought a vw conv. and it has a light blue paint, which I like, not quite gulf blue. I have been playing around mixing some grey with blue and will try to dial in a blue as close as her vw. But who knows , I might go with another color. I plan on stripping the car down,after I get back from Oregon this weekend, Its the last road trip for me this year. I just haven't wanted to give up driving the beck this summer for any length of time, the weather has been to good. Hopfully by the pasa meet next year, I wil be painted and ready for some pics. I have always liked the outlaw look. My old 64 coup was rusty outlaw, and I really liked it. I am taking out all the carpet,changing the seats ( for the wife) it will have a sparten interior with rubbermats painted interior,a little aluminum pannels and perhaps floor board. I am also stipping the leather off the dash, I have an idea i want to try out as to trim, to break up a plain dash. I will just have to see as the beck project progresses. It looks as though you caught me playing tourist at San simmion. My wife and I took the tour.
