Seag8r, it's probably worth a look. Given the manufacturer is IM and the model is probably more practical than a typical Speedster would be for a wider variety of weather, and the low but not TOO low miles, if I were a betting man I'd say it's in good shape.

Plus, something about that color / tranny combo just says "old person", but not in any sort of bad way - I have always gotten THE best car deals from older people because (pardon me if I stereotype), they tend to take better care of their things. So, on limited information, I bet it's in superior shape.

Would love to know if I'm wrong.

Greetings!  I am new to "SpeedsterOwners" and am anxious to join the fraternity of replica Porsche ownership.  I am quite interested in this IM and would love a report of this car's actual condition.  I live in Georgia and am curious about registering a replica and emissions requirements.  Thanks Seag8r!

Welcome SS.

It would be best to start your own thread instead of jumping (hijacking) someone else's showing interest in the same car.

My sincerest apologies...I didn't intend to commandeer this thread (I noticed the starter of the thread, DKENNEMO, stated "I was just thinking about it, and already I'm out").  Again, my apologies to all.

Really Banzai, be nice... there has been no such effort from my point of view to eject anybody.

As to listings of cars on this site... We often show what is available for others to know what is for sale...

If your truly interested in a car, you should do your due diligence before posting it here if you want to really buy it.

If you declare yourself then the members who are not always vocal can jump on it and get it before you.

Something that Banzai did to another member who was eyeing the car but Banzai jumped on it and got it first.  Good for Banzai.

So basic rules of etiquette and social niceties apply anywhere in life and just because you can hide behind a moniker you should still be nice.

You may have an opinion that others may want to hear but saying it nicely is something that keeps others from being offended. Something that is easily done when you write instead of speaking face to face.   Other rules of etiquette to not offend other listeners, are to simply realize that if you keep your rants to a few posts we get to listen, but if you get brain locked on a subject and all your posts are a rant on one subject that you insert into every topic on the forum .... well, you might get a few come backs that are not too nice by those who themselves might need to read this post for social niceties

Were no longer teenagers and pissing matches should be kept on the urology site

My 2 cents.

No worries bud, Not trying to discourage you in pursuing this good deal at all.

What Ray said, as I don't eloquently type what my small brain thinks.

@Bonzai , come on man, you're creating drama. Nobody has ever tried or even asked you to leave, just think about that for a minute. I know you're not from Hawaii but you should try to learn what Aloha means and show a little...

Aloha!

What did I do? You mean I saw a car for sale on EBAY and bought it? Did i DO SOMETHING TO ANOTHER MEMBER?

I have put a number of cars on this site for members to peruse when I see them for sale on other sites....NOT for my own consumption, but for others to find a good deal! All SS did was express interest and folks jump on his throat for hijacking threads....that DRAMA is not of my doing.......

Drive safe

"What did I do? You mean I saw a car for sale on EBAY and bought it? Did i DO SOMETHING TO ANOTHER MEMBER?"

We all list what we see elsewhere on this list for the benefit of others.

I never said that you did something to another member  ... So lighten up

I said that you benefitted from the knowledge and opinions of this list and also that another member was the one who declared that he was looking at the car.

The very fact that this list and it's members declared the value in this used IM 6cyl ... was the reason that you moved on it... It  PRECIPITATED your decision to buy the car and you beat others in this case Phil and maybe others on Ebay to the punch.  GOOD FOR YOU !

If you will admit that this list Precipitated the decision by confirming that this car was worth its asking price then you will simply confirm my point.

Other than that, it is completely your decision if you want to choose to create drama where there is none.  The issue is IN YOU, not on our end ... Common lighten up man.

Define jumping on one's throat. I made a welcoming gesture to SS and then a suggestion (starting an new thread/post) Common Courtesy as to not offend anyone (like the OP)

Again, quit the drama!

Indeed I will lighten up. TRUTH BE TOLD...I was UNAWARE of any SOC activity until I bought the car. I became a member on April 4, 2017 AFTER buying the car and started negotiations on March 31, 2017. I have attached my membership date April 4, 2017 AND included the preliminary INSPECTION dated 4/2/2017.

I certainly value the expertise available on this forum, but this buy was on ME and with input from inspections and NOT from SOC. Check the dates my friend.SOC April 4INSPECTION 4:2:2018

You used the word "HIJACKING" and you suggest that this is COMMON COURTESY? When was the last time the use of the word "HIJACKING" expressed in a kind and courteous context?

p.s. I'm done on this discussion..SAFE

I have no idea what Banzai has stirred up. I blocked him last week and so I don't see his posts. Try it, you'll find it makes visiting the site more fun.

Simply click on  "Banzai Pipeline" in blue at the beginning of any of his posts and then the option to block pops up. Obviously this works for any other member on the site.

You can block me as well!

Seems like a good price, color isn't to my taste, auto tranny would have to come out, but it's a kind of cozy community here, so I thought someone might have the inside scoop.

But it's an IM from '97 and the price seems good.

Thanks,

d

No, but I have a very nice  Cabrio "D" with a 2 liter, berg five, vintage speed shifter, heated seats, power windows, front and rear sway bars with new bilstiens and just painted. pictures coming soon

Any advice on finding a good one just like that for a decent price would be appreciated. It seems like the answer is, just hang around the hoop long enough and go see enough of them and wait for condition and price to align. But I don't know what's realistic.

What's your definition of "good price"?
