Does this car have a Porsche engine?

Not sure of the engine "gender" as it does have unique sheet metal etc.
But, also not quite sure of the gender of the female (?) along side the car.

well the engine tin is 356, the generator stand is 356, the oil / breather is 356 and the fan housing is 356. Therefore, I suspect the engine is 356. It is done up substantially different than stock, hence the question I suspect. I have one in my garage at the moment......

Yep, it's the Real McCoy; it's just painted and spruced up with Dellorto carbs.

Where's the large cylinder that is usually left of the Alternator? I seen them on real Porsche engines but I'm not sure what it is.

Nolan, I assume you mean this large cylinder? I don't know if you are kidding or not about not knowing what it is...if you are serious, it is an oil filter. It is only slightly more useful than no filter at all as it only filters oil that bypasses the main gallery flow, or about 8-10% of the flow.....hence, you see them removed and external filters fit on most performance motors. And by the way, that is a generator, not an alternator while I am being petty.......most of us who ever had one of these wishes it was an alternator......the generator provides much less current than an alternator....

Aha! I thought it might have been an oil filter. I'm just more familiar with VW engines and not at all with Porsche engines. I was thrown off by the seller's statement that the car was converted to 12VDC from the original 6VDC so I assumed that it had an alternator instead of a generator, however, on second look I see what maybe the voltage regular on the firewall. By the way Jim your engine looks great and hope I'm right in saying that it's an authentic P type.

Nolan, the 356 engine in the Ghia is not mine. I don't have a clue as to whose car it is. i just liked it and saved the photos.....my 356 engine is currently apart awaiting engine tins to come back from being powder coated.....

Welcome to Sunny Florida. The temps have been running in the 80's and a nice balmy breeze makes it pretty comfortable. The Doc says the surgery site looks good and will be taking the stitches out next week. I don't how long it will take for the tendon to heal, but I can move my foot up and down. I told him about the road trip in March and he was a bit cautious about any long driving stints. Carlisle is in May, right? I should be able to make it if my car is done. If SAW is on schedule I'll probably have it shipped down here. Blue-eyes' transportation sounds promising.

Now that you've sorted out the 'engine gender' issue, howzabout that drag-queen model next to the car?
