door lock

Hi, A new speedster project owner (CMC)with some questions and I do have a instruction manual. Body is mounted and just doing interior and wiring. This is a 15+ yr ongoing project I just purchased 2 months ago.
1) I can not figure out the door lock install nad wondered if anyone has some pics better than the manual mainly thow the door lock and release arm hook up pg IV-21 and 22.
2)What have you used for the firewall splash apron, paint, black rubber stair tread or....?
3)My kit did not come with the engine compartment inserts top or bottom pg V-11 do I need them? How do you seal the engine compartment with the tin installed on the engine.

Been 20 years but can't recall any probs installing the door latching mechanism following the instructions. I can send pictures as door panel is not on yet. Wish the CMC door handle had a key lock - but guess mute point since there is minimal top at best.

I used thin (1/16) rubber matting with a woven core - the black rubber hall runner/stair tread would work fine.

I have the rear upper and lower fiber glass pieces yet to be installed. I'd be happy to take picture, measure or trace them for you. I've no idea where piece either side got to though 0 I was going to use piece of thin stainless steel or aluminum plate.

Door locks?? You dont need no stinkin' door locks. Not helpful, I know. My speedster doesnt have any door locks, but there is nothing in it for them to steel. I do have a full tonneau that I snap up If I have luggage in the back. I did come out one time to find it unsnapped, just at the drivers side. One snap.

No need for door locks, Plenty of ways to get into this car. My two scents. Perhaps I helped you take that build item off the list and you can move on.

Thanks for getting back to the new guy. I went to Home Depot and found some galvanized sheet metal panels 24" x 36" for $ 8.99 each and I plan to use that. It was in the heat and a/c area. Fortunatly they didn't have any stair tread material so I found this.
I don't want/need door locks as someone over 3' tall could open the door or hop in. I have a battery cut off switch under the dash for some scum bag who may want to try. However, in the CMC manual it shows a vertical rod (release arm) that hooks up to the door latch and door handle release rod and looks to be bolted to the lower portion of the door. Page IV-20 Fig 20 and 21. Thanks again.
