Does anyone know if the door rails VS uses are a standard size. I sent my door rails to a fellow member of this forum and FedEx actually lost the package I shipped (unbelievable).

The follow forum member was going to custom make a set of wood rails for my 2001 VS, and needed the originals. He also has a VS, 1997, and we were both wondering if he could just use the dimensions of his rails to make a new set for me. That said, we aren't sure if the door rail dimensioned used for a '97 VS would be the same as a '01 VS.

I'd appreciate any feedback you might have on the subject.

Thank you.

ps - I still can't believe FedEx lost my package....

That sounds like a Kirk@Vintage question. My best guess is the door mold dictates that and I doubt that that part of any manufacturer's
efforts include mold changes aside from widebody to classic or something like that... One of the fellows that came down for one of our first Bay Area putt-putts had mahogany(?) door rails and they looked classy.
