I would like to redo the door sills on my VS. Does VS sell a kit for this ? Has any one used the sill kits from SMC or Stoddard and if so which one provided the nicest finished
product.
Thanks Ted

Ted---do you mean redo the carpet?
Kirk sells a very fine carpet set--pre cut and trimmed. Or if you just need the sills, maybe you can buy just those pieces.
A great project for a VS is to strip out the original carpet, paint in 3 coats of truck bed liner for waterproofing followed my Dynamat everywhere then the new carpt set. Now you have yourself a great improvement.
You mean replace the black rubber with stainless steel logo ones?
Like this?
I would prefer to stay with the black rubber as my intentions are to stay with the most original look, however, I would entertain a clean looking stainless application.
I think the real ones looked like this:
From the inside of the car, there are a couple of metal bits that sandwich a rubber seal. That rubber seal lies over the inside part of the ribbed rubber threshold piece which is covered by the door when it's closed. There's another metal bit along the outside edge of the ribbed rubber piece.
I'm not sure that VS sells a kit for that. It seems like a lot more stuff than the anti-slip sandpaper that's on a vs and I don't know if the doors would close properly if all of it were added.
ted: my $0.02.
pop those off (drill rivets, remount with stainless screws)
run some aluminum polish over them.. % minutes per and they will be super clean and shiny!

I believe we have a Ted dilema !
Your still missing the edge peace that goes on the outer edge of the rubber runner. I found a peace of aluminum trim for masonite that goes in a shower stall that comes pretty close to it. One edge of it had to be filed and polished a bit to make it passable for the correct part. But Klasse 356 does have the rest .
I ordered a pair of these metal plates --- argh from China. Obviously they got Stuttgart's permission to make them. Got 2 for $15. Will see if I can use them on the door sills to spruce up entry. Could go on CoCo mats too. Quality looks good in photo - will post how they look once they arrive.

they are $9.90 each, how did you get 2 for $15? Did you make an offer?
Yup - not worth $20 to me not knowing size so I made the $15 offer and it was accepted.
