That does address the paint protection part of the situation, but I would also like to protect the door itself. I have a 65 mustang and a friend of mine opened the door while the car was pointed nose first down a hill, he swung the door open and between it's weight and a bit of wind the door ended up with a crease in it from the over travel. Just trying to avoid this on a fiberglass car ! The straps should control the travel and not allow this situation to occur. I do appreciate the thinking outside the box ideas, many ways to skin a cat.

Thank you !

If you want, I can snap a photo, providing I don't get too excited...

That's the bumper stop John Steele cuts off the suspension (you know, so your metal suspension parts can get acquainted with one another), and glued into the door jamb. Actually, it's not a bad idea, except the doors only open about a foot.

I noticed a serious body fiberglas problem with my car this spring and pulled the door to have it fixed. I called Thunder Ranch to find out why I was having the body problem on a new car. Tom told me that on their "turn key" cars they put a weldment on the hinge to prevent it from opening too far causing the problem I had. For some reason they didn't do that with their kits. I pulled the top hinge off both doors and just put a small bead of weldment on the hinge to keep the door from opening too far.  Works great.

Haystack Calhoun.  Man you're older than I thought you were!
