You appear not to have any at all. What do your side windows attach to? Make some out of wood and either finish them or cover them with vinyl.
Lane's suggestion is the answer!
At Carlisle 2112 I saw that Greg Billesbach didn't like the thickness and the contour of his door rails. He fashioned replacements from hardwood and covered them with vinyl (matching color)...very smooth modification.
ooops....I tacked on a hundred years!!
That should have read "At Carlisle 2012"
(Theron, is there anyway to edit mistakes in posted replies?)
Carl, you an edit a post for about 30-60 minutes before it times out and is locked forever in eternity. There's an edit button on upper right of dialogue box. Click the gear/wheel icon and then look for the pen icon. I just tried it. Twice.
I dunno about you Carl, but I intend to be at Carlisle 2112 with my fusion-powered Speedster.
I'll try to be there in 2112 but my flux capacitor is acting up again
I have a set of CMC fiberglass rails available drclockATpa.net ~Alan
I made mine out of grade A pine. I used a router to do the edges in a nice smooth radius. Then covered them in vinyl
Look at Lane's photo.
The rails extend down with a routed lip that 'catches' the top of the panel.
I apologize
I don't see what you are explaining in LANE's photo.
Is there another photo of it from the side or above?
thanks
It wouldn't be visible from the photo, but in my case the routing Carl describes wouldn't be needed. The beck door has a flat area above the door panel that mates up to the back side of the door rail. I used captured screws glued in behind the false rivet heads and installed the nuts from within the doors (panel off). I made a set for a friend that had visible stainless steel sheet metal screws and a bit of glue to hold them to the fiberglass.
In your case, you'll need to route out part of the back side of the rail so that there is a lip on top to cover the top of the door panel. It looks like you will have to screw through the panel. I'm not really sure how the CMC door is made.
CMC top of door is apparently same as Beck - it sits out 1/8". Remove the beading from top of your door and lower or cut the panel 1/2". Looks like the backing for you panels got wet and delaminated or warped - I'd pull panels and redo the backing material for a finished job.
Hey Lane, what's that at the top right of the door panel?
Door lock. Twist one way to lock; the other way to unlock.
