I just had some transmission work done on the baby, new syncro rings
ect....and still having problems. No problem going up through the gears and down from 4Th to third. Dropping into second while still traveling 30 miles + and it sounds like I don't have the cluch in.
Am I asking too much from the smaller gears at this speed ?
Love the sound and feel of down shifting.
Thanks,
Gary

Try a test. Next time you down shift either double clutch or just raise the revs up to match the rotation of the input shaft. If the transaxle behaves normally, you have a problem with the rebuild, if there's still a noise or some other trouble, start looking at the pedal, shifter, coupler, or boden tube/bracket assemblies.

Maybe?
First, take the suggestions above and fix what's wrong. Then always double clutch when you down-shift any gear except 2nd to 1st when you are actually stopped.

Your transmission will last longer, the car will be more balanced under hard driving and it SOUNDS REALLY COOL!! angela
TC,
The rebuilder removed some fluid and added some additive.
This helped the general shifting but no help for down shifting into
2nd and first. I do have play in the shifter it self but why only in the bottom two gears when down shifting there is a problem ?
Maybe on the weekend I'll get a chance to try double shifting.....they are talking about snow tomorrow.
